Preach, Brother

After reading Matt Taibbi's op-ed in this week's Rolling Stone on McCain's choice of Palin for VP, there were a few comments which really stayed with me. The article is a blistering attack on her, but also on much of America's blind acceptance of her. Prior to the RNC, the author agreed with most journalists in that she was a poor choice for VP. After seeing her speak, he realized that it was a brilliant choice, that she's the embodiment of everything America thinks they want. Under the surface, she's Carl Rove and Bush rolled into one. It scares the bejesus out of me that our "democratic" political process allows for someone as inexperienced and uninformed as Palin to become President if McCain were to die in office. One of the more memorable excerpts:

"Sarah Palin is everything that's wrong with the modern United States...as a representative of our political system...but more than that, she's a horrifying symbol of how little we ask for in return for the total surrender of our political power."
