I feel you Jam!

Being from DC I have a particular interest in what's going down in el capitale, not only in politics but citizen-wise. The neighborhood my grandmother grew up in was a working class brownstone area in the 20's that steadily deteriorated following the 60's race riots and was certified ghetto up until gentrification began to set in about five years ago. I always hoped her hood would experience a turn around if only to preserve the unique architecture of the area.

As we all know, with gentrification comes class and race clashes that are quite hard to address in America but a blogger named Jam Donaldson is saying everything that needs to be said about the general state of America and race relations in particular (particularly timely now that a biracial man may be our next president). From the little that I know of her, Jam Donaldson is an early 30's DC resident who attended Howard University. Years ago she started a funny site called Hot Ghetto Mess which is definitely worth checking out for comedic value but on her second site she just hit it out of the park. She's pretty well known now as a blogger to be reckoned with within the African American media, so you may have already heard of her blog, Conversate-is-not-a-word.

I could go on and on about how impressively "real" she keeps it but please just check it out for yourself. Her tone is conversational but what really impresses me is how she moves from humor to self deprecating to educational to politics to race with such great ease. OK I'm done raving and yapping, go check it out for yourself. Nice work Jam.
